Robert A Carruthers Q.C

Bob graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He then attended Dalhousie and received his Bachelor of Law in 1977. Bob then articled with Derek Baldwin Law Office and was called to the bar in 1978. He began Carruthers & Associates in 1980.
Bob has always been strongly involved in his community. Bob was a municipal councilor for 2 terms and then the Liberal MLA for Hants East for five years. During this time he was the government whip and sat on a variety of committees and chaired the local bills committee.
Bob’s commitment to the local area has continued since this time. He has resided in Milford since 1979 with his wife, Judy, and his two children, Patrick and Angie. His children have since grown up and are both teachers. Over the years, Bob has been involved in numerous service and sporting organizations.
Bob has appeared at all levels of courts in Nova Scotia, from Small Claims Court to our Court of Appeal. Bob has a general practice with a focus on real estate, wills, probate, corporate and criminal law.


Joseph MacDonell, B.A., LL.B

Joe attended Hants East Rural High. He then went to Acadia University, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts, major in political science and minor in economics. From there he attended Dalhousie University Law School and graduated in 1983. He articled first with Veniot, Jessome & Walker and later with Crowe Dillon Haynes & Ashworth. He was called to the bar in July 1984 and joined the firm of Carruthers & MacDonell in 1993.
Joe’s family is rooted in the Elmsdale/Enfield area reaching back to 1790. Joe resides in his family homestead, where the MacDonell family has resided since 1877, with his wife Margaret, and two children, Seonaid and Sam.
Joe has always been active in the local community. He served a term as a municipal councilor, has been involved in various community organizations such as 4H and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church parish council and various other committees. He remains involved in the local farming community, with his small hobby farm in Enfield and his blueberry production in both Enfield and Glencoe, Inverness County, Cape Breton. He is also a member of the Wild Blueberry Growers Association of Nova Scotia.
Joe has appeared at all levels of courts in Nova Scotia. He currently has a general practice in the areas of real estate, civil litigation, criminal law, wills, probate, corporate/commercial law, municipal law and family law.


Kerri-Ann Robson, BA (hons), LLB

Kerri-Ann  attended Mount Allison University, graduating in 2000. She then attended Dalhousie University and graduated in 2003. Kerri articled with Carruthers & MacDonell and was called to the bar in June 2004.
Kerri grew up in East Hants and attended Hants East Rural High School. She currently resides in East Hants corridor with her husband, step daughter and three children. Kerri is involved in the local community; as a coach for East Hants Basketball, sitting on various boards such as East Hants Youth Links, Maple Ridge School Advisory Committee and the East Hants Sports Heritage Society and a volunteer with local groups, such as the Milford Recreation Association.
Kerri has a general practice in the areas of family law, divorce, child support, Children and Family Services matters, civil litigation, criminal law, real property, wills and estates.
